WELLBEING
The wellbeing program at NIS is designed to equip students with essential tools and strategies to support their mental health and overall wellbeing. Grounded in the principles of the MITEY program, this initiative empowers ākonga to navigate their emotions, manage stress, and foster healthy relationships through the development of empathy.
By integrating these practices into daily learning, students build resilience and self-awareness, which are crucial for thriving in an ever-changing world. The program emphasizes the importance of social-emotional growth, ensuring that students are prepared to face challenges with confidence and compassion. As they progress through their time at NIS, students cultivate skills that will serve them well in college, their careers, and beyond. By prioritizing mental health and emotional intelligence, the wellbeing program at NIS lays a strong foundation for students to lead fulfilling and balanced lives.

SCHOOL COUNSELLOR
Keri McNaughton is our School Counsellor. She is on-site on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Students can be referred by staff, parents, or self-referrals. Keri encourages students to tell their parents they are seeing a counsellor, but we do not insist on parental permission. All sessions are confidential between the counsellor and the student.
Parents can refer students via Keri’s email: kerim@ni.school.nz
